The Honourable Minister of State Budget and Economic Planning, Her Excellency,
Dr. Uzoka-Anite, CFA has muted that Nigeria’s quest for sovereign credit worthiness depends on four key pillars which includes, Fiscal Health and Domestic Revenue Mobilisation; Debt sustainability and Liability Management; Economic Diversification, Investment and Productivity; 11and Strengthening and Policy Credibility Debt Sustainability and Liability Management

She made the assertion in a keynote address at the 2026 International Credit Rating Webinar
Themed: “Achieving Investment-Grade Rating By 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria” organised by DataPro Limited
.
According to the Minister, “Nigeria’s aspiration to achieve investmentgrade sovereign credit quality is consistent with its broader ambition to build a productive, resilient and competitive economy. This requires stronger domestic revenue mobilisation, responsible debt management, economic diversification, improved infrastructure, greater private-sector investment, higher productivity and credible institutions”.
While noting that Nigeria possesses significant economic advantages, including a large domestic market, abundant resources, a dynamic private sector and a growing digital economy, she insisted that the challenge before the country is how to convert these advantages into sustainable investment, productivity and inclusive growth. The journey towards stronger sovereign creditworthiness requires consistent reforms, sound data, effective implementation and constructive engagement with investors and development partners, which are central to the economic reform agenda of the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. She added.

“As Nigeria advances towards 2030, the success of its sovereign credit-rating ambitions will ultimately depend on the strength of its economic fundamentals and its ability to translate development plans into measurable results. With the ongoing reforms and strengthening of key economic institutions, the country is moving in the right direction towards achieving its ambition of becoming a diversified, resilient and globally competitive US$1 trillion economy by 2030, while laying the foundation for stronger and more sustainable sovereign creditworthiness”. Anite maintained.

She commended DataPro Limited for organising the important discuss and for contributing to the dialogue on strengthening sovereign creditworthiness and advancing Africa’s long-term economic development.
